Tips for Traveling in NYC

If you’re planning on traveling to New York City in the near future and want to learn how to see the Statue of Liberty for free and how to find the best food in the city, you’ve come to the right place. Simply continue reading to discover a couple of invaluable tips that will help you get the most out of your trip to NYC.

Tips for Traveling in NYC:

Use public transportation to get around:

The most effective way to explore NYC is by using the metro. Especially as you can get to most of New York’s best attractions, activities, and eateries via the metro. While you may be tempted to hail an iconic yellow cab, the cab rares in New York are steep. Worse yet the traffic in New York is insane and it will take you far longer to travel from one attraction to the next in a cab than it would if you were to take the metro.

Pack comfortable shoes:

As you’ll find yourself clocking up plenty of miles on your trip to New York, make sure to do yourself a huge favor and to pack at least one pair of comfortable shoes that you can walk at least 5 miles in at a time.

Take a free trip on the Staten Island Ferry:

If ticking seeing the iconic Statue of Liberty off your bucket list is important to you, don’t get conned into paying for an expensive tour which promises you great views of the Statue of Liberty. As you’ll get the best views of the world-famous statue from the Staten Island Ferry, which happens to be 100% free to ride and is provided for locals and tourists, free of charge by the City of New York.

Purchase a hot slice of pizza from a traditional, family-run pizzeria:

Eating in New York doesn’t need to cost a small fortune as there is no storage of traditional, family-run pizzerias where you’ll be able to grab a tasty slice of authentic New York pizza for a couple of dollars. Some pizzerias which you may want to visit during your whirlwind trip to the big apple include Lombardi’s which is the oldest pizzeria in the country and was opened in 1905 and Totonno’s which is one of the highest-rated pizzerias in the borough of Brooklyn.

Visit Time’s Square at night;

Time’s Square looks its best when it’s brightly lit up at night, so if you want to take an iconic photo of yourself in Time’s Square, head to Time’s Square at night.

Check the food safety rating outside restaurants:

In New York, restaurants are required to post their food safety rating outside their premises. Only order food from restaurants that boast an A rating as in New York if a restaurant has not been given an A rating, their kitchen has been assessed as being dirty.

So if you want to taste some of the best food in NYC and to be able to travel around NYC easily, it’s well worth remembering all of the invaluable travel tips which are listed above!
